Members of the Utah Headliners Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists have written a letter to 5th District Judge James Shumate expressing concern about a sentence he imposed on KUTV reporter Katie Baker, after finding her in contempt of court while covering jury selection in the Warren Jeffs trial.

The Radio Television News Directors Association, The Reporter’s Committee for the Freedom of the Press and other journalism advocacy groups have also written to the judge, expressing their concerns.
