The Utah Supreme Court has sent a proposed reporter’s privilege rule (Rule 509) out for an abbreviated public comment period. The public comment period ends Jan. 22, 2008.

The Utah Headliners Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists is in full support of this proposed rule, and would encourage any of its members to comment in favor of it. We believe it strikes an appropriate balance and provides much-needed protections.
