On Monday, March 23, the League of Women Voters Salt Lake Chapter, will host an event at which the local community can become involved in an initiative announced by President Obama on his first day in office and can help craft a directive that will move the federal government toward being “transparent,” “participatory,” and “collaborative.”
During the event, local participants will watch a webcast at which individuals who are intimately involved in formulating the Administration’s policies and agendas will discuss the exciting new initiatives. After the webcast, attendees will discuss how to make the local government operate in a transparent manner, and the impact of open government on their communities.
The program is part of Sunshine Week 2009 and is brought to you by OpenTheGovernment.org, the League of Women Voters, and other organizations.
At the event, to be held at 6 p.m. at Main Salt Lake City Library, 210 East 400 South, the Utah Headliners chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists will present its annual Sunshine and Black Hole Awards.
